Easter
I keep missing all of the social events of the season--the Bradshaw wedding on Saturday and Easter services on Sunday. I don't know how I'll be able to go to church on Wednesday unless Simon gets lots better AND Wednesday is Nancy's 17th birthday!
Well, the pix above was taken on Easter. He is sick, I promise. (bronchiolitis) I know he looks too cute to be sick.
Our video camera is getting cleaned at Circuit City. I hope, hope, hope that Simon doesn't crawl in the next 7 - 10 business days.

We survived last night!
We survived last night!
Last night was a test, but I guess we passed.
I literally held Simon upright for hours, until my back hurt too much. Poor Simon. We will do anything for him, though. Hopefully we will be through this sickness before Easter. (Simon has a cute Easter outfit from Gigi!)
Oh, for breakfast this morning, we had yummy banana nut muffins with real bananas and pecans, freshly ground hazelnut coffee, and chocolate covered strawberries that I made last night in the midst of it all.

Simon gets Nebulized!
Simon gets Nebulized!
Simon is sick!!! We had a rough night last night. Poor Simon was coughing, coughing, coughing. So sad. I had to hold him upright to help him sleep.
So this morning, we took him to the doctor. He has bronchialitis (?) We went to the pharmacy and picked up a couple of prescriptions and a nebulizer as seen in the photo.
Poor baby.
Also throwing up.
This is our first all out day and night altering sickness. Matt and I feel similar to the
post Hilltop exhaustion and deliurium. I don't know if that's a word.
Why is it after 11 and we are still up? Matt just decided to take the footboard off our bed.
No kidding at 11:00 p.m. He just went outside to get a toolery of which I do not know the name, maybe a wrench or something.
Oh, no, Simon just woke up with a dirty diaper.
I'm back the update is: dirty diaper, I walked into the now jutting out piece of metal at the end of our bed where the footboard used to be, I might need stitches, and Simon just vomited again and is running a fever.
We have to laugh or cry. But we're laughing.

Our Little Carrot Face
Carrothead tried Carrots for the First Time
Yep, Simon tried carrots yesterday. Good thing he ate them, because I had already cooked and pureed 3 lbs. of carrots. So now we have almost 50 frozen ice cubes of carrots.
This baby food thing is kind of fun. Today, I'm planning on cooking several pounds of sweet potatoes in the oven, and then scooping out the middle for him and freezing it.
Oh, yesterday we put together a toy for Simon. It's Bounce Bounce Baby from Target. He LOVES it! He is Mr. Big Boy, standing up and all. I like it because he can stand/jump, but not walk in it, which lets us prolong baby proofing a little longer.
Oh, I'll take some good pix of him today in his cool toy. Maybe we'll take it with us to EAST DALLAS while we eat yummy food.
OH, and for those coming over to play CRANIUM tonight, see you around 6??
Later.

Kellie and Kimmie
Kellie and her sister Kimmie
Kellie called today while I was pureeing peas for Simon. (Yummy!)
She was about to walk to the post-office--Doesn't that sound quaint? Kellie lives in outside Philadelphia with her family who serves FCA and Kellie works for a local hospital as a nurse.
Anyway, ya'll may remember that Kellie flew out here to Texas to help me with Simon during those first couple of weeks that were so hard. It would have been next to impossible (save God's grace) to get through that time without her.
Kellie has a great sense of humor and personality--I know when people usually write that about someone it's because that someone may lack in the, um, cosmetology (?) department, but not so with Kellie. The only question, is really, why is she still single? (but I know the answer to that--God's timing--and Kellie has really high standards, plus the lucky guy has to have a heart for overseas missions, and probably has to be really into sports and jock vernacular to fit into her wonderful family! )
Kellie in Thailand after Tsunami
Excerpts from some of Kellie's Emails:
After Thailand Visit:
My heart's desire is to continue to go to the
least reached peoples and bring them this hope that we
have. Please pray for the Christians in Thailand.
They make up less than 1% of the population and face
much persecution. Continue to pray for those who are
groping for God (Acts 17:27)-that they might seek Him
and find Him. Thank you for your part in this
journey. Your sister and servant, Kellie

Last Night's Homewarming Visit
This is Lisa and I with our babies! Jacob will be 6 in November. Here goes the underlining again!
Lisa and the kids are finishing up Spring Break. We brought over some Papa John's Pizza and Breyer's new Tin Roof ice cream--here's hoping no one was on a diet!
Matt and Bethany mostly stayed glued to the computer. What did we do before computers and cell phones???
Simon had peas for the first time--Seemed to like them okay. We've only used the 3 jars of baby food that Doralin brought for Simon to Matthew's (Pecina) 16th birthday party. We tried the sweet potatoes and the peas--both seem to be okay.
I think I'll start giving him (veggies) food regularly this next week--SPRING BREAK!
ASHLEY PECINA--HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY!!!

Sister and Brother-in-law
Kelly and Corey
Well, this entry might be short because Simon is crying. He is teething--his top two teeth are coming in.
Kelly and Corey live in Mississippi, where they have a really cool house next to a lake. They have dogs and cats, too, which I admit, I don't understand. I think I have a big flaw when it comes to animal sensitivity. What kind of person doesn't like pets??? I probably shouldn't admit that.
Kelly and Corey are good people for advice about all kinds of stuff. I recently called Kelly when I was overwhelmed about something, and she knows where I'm coming from.
And they love Simon, which is a big plus. Corey's trying to brainwash him with a Harley Davidson bib! I know they would totally spoil him, if they lived closer. Even from a distance (is that a song?), they're doing a pretty good job of it. Any moms out there should try the PraiseBaby dvds. Kelly and Corey bought one for Simon and he loves it! It's basically Baby Einstein to praise and worship music. Actually, I think it's better than Baby Einstein.
The only bad thing about Corey is that he is a psychologist instead of a psychiatrist. That means he can't prescribe medicine! Somedays, I think I need some! Later.
My Little Brother
My little brother
Well, when I was a teenager, he was more of a little bother, I hate to admit. I do wish I had been more of a nicer big sis in those teenage years.
Matt said once that little siblings do care about the approval of their bigger siblings, whether they will admit it or not.
Well, now I am trying to make up for it. I offer Scott all kinds of services--dating advice, matchmaking services, and fashion services, as I have picked out clothes for him, and offered shopping venue suggestions when asked. Also, Scott comes to me with spiritual and social dilemmas, too. I don't know why, I think I give too much cut and dry advice.
And Scott is a great uncle--doesn't seem to mind helping us out with Simon when needed!
Who Is This?
Another Singer
Matt and I went to his concert at The Door in October; it was so much fun--The Door was sold out, so that made for a slightly uncomfortable evening for anyone with the slightest bit of claustrophobia or crowd sensitivity. I don't know for sure if I have any psycho. (short for psychological )disorders, but I made sure I was standing next to a fire exit.
Matt, on the other hand, was right in the middle of it all on the floor, with our video camera perched precariously in his hand, above his head, as he captured all of the body surfing--(We have it all on dvd now.)
Anyway, I think my favorite cds right now are the above artist's "illuminate" cd and anything by Sara Groves. Sara's lyrics are my favorite--they capture my thoughts, prayers, and experience so much that it's eerie.
So, I know this is easy, because he has such a unique look, but who is the featured artist?
Katie B.
Picture Archive
Katie sang a solo two weeks ago that was so beautiful--does anyone know the name of the song? I realy liked it--I need to listen to it again to really understand it, though. Was it talking about both our heavenly and earthly father or just one or the other? Anyway, I'm no critic, but I think Katie has a real talent for singing.
I'm disappointed about this coming Sunday. I want to go hiking with the teens, but I'm not sure if I could/should take Simon. I have a "snugli" I can wear and hold him (or more likely Matt can wear and hold him.) But I'm not sure if that's safe in case we were to fall even though the trails are a distant cousin to intense hiking. And my mom and dad will be leaving after church, driving to Mississippi to see Kelly and Corey. Mom and Dad are my Simon stand-by's, when available. Next week might be hard on us, with mom and dad being out of town--(to see Kelly and Corey and to go to New Orleans for a couple of days with my mom's parents.)
Ah, well. If that is my disappointment for the week, I shall surely count my blessings.
Why is Simon crying? I should go find out.

Who are these people?
Simon's Milestones
Simon and Miss Nicole
Two Tall Kids
Two Tall Kids
Matt and Chris remind me of each other.
(a) both are not short
(b) worked at McDonalds during high school
(c) Both go by shortened versions of their names (matthew/christopher)
(d) both have same spiritual gift of service (whether or not they realize it yet)
(e) both drove and worked on old VW Beetles in high school
(f) both are goofy
But they are different in many ways, the biggest one namely being Chris is really into Harley's and Matt-not so much. (yay!)
I hope this is a good pix
A Circle of Friends
I told the girls I would only put the pix on my blog if it was a good pix of everyone, and I thought they all look darling, as usual, so on it goes to the blog. I hope they think the same thing!
We had fun visiting at the youth rally--we're not really so much into the game thing, but that's okay. It takes all kinds.
