Evie appears to be reading her birthday card from Aunt KK and Uncle Corey !
This reminds me of a funny comment our friend Janet at Gospel for Asia made the other day.
She received a bizarre email, full of symbols from my email address.
I knew it was from Simon, because he had been at the computer earlier in the day when I had been distracted.
Janet sent a reply email noting that either her email was encrypted or it must be from Evie (whom she thinks should join the worship team at GFA due to her expressive hand and body motions during singing).
Simon's new swing has found a home!
Last weekend Simon received a Christmas Gift from 2007 from some family friends!
Thank you!
Simon LOVES this swing.
One really awesome parental feature of the swing is that Simon cannot get out of it himself. So, I may give him a good "swinging start", run inside, start some laundry, come outside, and he is still sitting in the same predictable place!
And he doesn't tire of it!
I think it would be fun this winter to get an outdoor heater or fire pit and continue to use our porch. Of course, the real "winter" is a long time coming.
I do remember, though, that last Thanksgiving, it sleeted and was a bit icy. Hard to imagine since it is warm-ish this week and Thanksgiving is just around the corner!
Simon had a bit of wisdom the other day.
He is a little preoccupied with death. Not too much, but he mentions it fairly often.
Sometimes one of his toys will "die" and he will just leave it there for days. I'll ask him about it, as he plays around it and he says, "That toy is dead." The other toys treat the deceased toy with appropriate respect as they play around it.
So, I asked him the other day what it meant to "die."
Simon's response, unknowingly to him, was quite deep, on a spiritual level.
Simon said, "To die means to bow down."
At least once a week, when we get home late past bedtime, this is a scene I might find minutes after arriving home. Simon is so tired, he just lies down on the bathroom rug (after taking care of business, of course.) So, THIS is why I launder our bath mats frequently.
The above video is from last Sunday. We took his new swing to Pops and Gigi's house to let them see it. Dad happened to have a towing rope that works well with the swing.
In the above video, Simon poses a deep question (paraphrased): Does it take a long time to grow up?
In this video Simon has a surprising and compassionate reply to my question,
"Who do you want to marry?"
