November Life-Shots

This morning for a good hour we were able to see participants walk by in the Race for the Cure.
We're not sure how many people walked by our home, but when we woke up around 8:30, there was a steady stream of participants and at 9:30 there was still lots of walkers ...

Simon sat on the front porch for some of the time and rang a bell and waved at the ladies.  They loved the interaction with him, I think.  Simon wanted to know where they were racing to.

Simon drew this penguin with the help of a drawing tutorial I found online for him.
I think it was on Disney's website.

Simon was following the step-by-step instructions.

Cutie Patootie!

Evie hanging out on our super warm quilt we picked up in Asheville secondhand.
It was amazing - $20 for a queen size Pottery Barn quilt that had just had its dry-clean packaging removed.  There was a sweet old lady working there who was intent on finding me amazing things.

One of the displays inside of Anthropologie.
We just returned from Willow Bend a little bit ago.
Can you see that precious red-headed boy?

We were visiting Anthropologie because our friend Matt has been working there as an in-store artist and display coordinator.  He gets to design super cool displays like this one.  This season part of their theme is "wood" so you can see the wood stacked around the top.  Also, right when you walk in the store, there is a lady mannequin with a wood skirt that he designed and helped implement.

Matt used to teach Matt guitar as well as being involved with our youth-group on Wednesday  nights - hence the beginning of our friendship with Matt and Ashley (sister.)

Matt designed this "chandelier" from an old patio table that he turned upside down.  Inside the 'grid' of the tabletop he attached old fluorescent bulbs.  A couple are designed to be used to actually give light.  Isn't it amazing?

Ashley and Matthew.

Simon's favorite new phrase that we need to videotape:
"You just got Baracked!"

Ashley had suggested we have a pie-eating contest.
Matt (mine) wanted to have a pie-enjoying contest - the winner was the one who conveyed the most enjoyment from their pumpkin pie ....

Amy I am so jealous! Do you know how many times I go into Anthropologie with my camera phone and discreetly take shots trying to figure out how to replicate what they do!?

I am in awe of the people who design those things... and you know one of them!!!
