CHLOE'S BAPTISM
PICTURE ARCHIVE
I'm posting this pix of 3/5 of the Curiel family to remind myself that I am going to Chaz' surprise 13th birthday party this weekend! If anyone wants to go, Tamitha sent an "in general" invitation to the church. We have to be there by 4 to surprise Chaz at 4:30. You can call me for their address and then we can mapquest it. (They have moved to far north Garland!)
This pix is from Chloe's baptism; it was my first 'poolside' baptism. Five years ago, come this May 28th, Chloe was the flower girl in our Pendleton, South Carolina Wedding! Yay, it will be our five year anniversary.
What a celebration-filled weekend ahead--Chaz on Saturday, Ashley on Sunday (graduation tea), and Sunday, May 1st, is my sister Kelly's birthday!
I LOVE THIS OUTFIT ON SIMON!
Simon and Nana
This pix is from when Matt's mom was here in April.
I've been telling everyone that this outfit that Simon is wearing ( it's from Aunt Kay Kay and Uncle Corey) is my current favorite! I was telling Alexa and Connie at church on Sunday that it's my favorite because of the way it's getting a little tight on him, and you can see the shape of his cute little body. I know that might sound weird, but it makes him seem more babylike than toddlerlike. Oh, maybe we can get a pix of him in it soon crawling and everyone can see what a cutie patootie he is!

Modern Art Notation
Modern Art.
Of course, I'm not an art critic, or even an artist, unless you want to count mostly being able to color in the lines.
(I don't even know if this sculpture in San Antonio is considered modern art; this is how unartlike I am.)
I know a lot of my blog readers are artsy, so I apologize if my next comment makes the art people quicken with disdain ...

I would like to draw a parallel between modern art and the classic story of The Emperor's New Clothes.
"No one would admit they could see nothing, for no one wanted to look a fool. Everyone clapped his hands and praised the emperor's new clothes."
~from the fairy tale, "The Emperor's New Clothes."

"For it so falls out
That what we have we prize not to the worth
Whiles we enjoy it, but being lack'd and lost,
Why, then we rack the value; then we find
The virtue that possession would not show us
Whiles it was ours.

What Are You Looking At?
Simon is thinking, "What are mommy and daddy doing?
They take pictures of every little thing; it's like the parent paparazzi."
Simon update: much better with the new prescription that we've had for a week; I'm thankful, and I wish we'd gotten the prescription for it so much sooner! The albuterral just didn't help! I think he's almost all better.
GFA update: (Gospel for Asia)
We went Tuesday night and we were announced to the staff as new staff members. We were excited that Brother K.P. was there to speak that night, as we will be under his leadership. It was humbling to be welcomed so warmly into such an organization/ministry/family. Mom and Dad came, too, and I think they feel better about the whole life change after getting a better glimpse of GFA's heart.
I know a lot of ya'll have clicked on the ad we have on this blog for the free book; I think it must just take awhile for it to come...BUT, for those who haven't, if you're willing, click on the ad for the free book and I think it takes about 4-6 weeks. That way ya'll can know more about the ministry and its effectiveness and you'll be reassured that we're not joining up with a crazy prophet and about to go live in a compound or something :)
They are really understaffed right now in the home office, and they want Matt to come in as soon as possible, but Matt is under contract for the rest of the school year, and we have camp and other obligations in June. We'll be raising support in May/June, and Matt will go ahead and start around the first of July. I'll write more later.
Life update:
I have to/get to go up to my mom's school at lunch today. The principal said the teacher's could get an hour lunch today if they could get a parent to come in and watch the class for thirty minutes before lunch. So, I'm going to go watch her class for her, and she is going to show off Simon during that 30 minutes. She wants her colleagues to see how "he is growing so beautifully."
I'm meeting Lisa tonight at her place to go walking/jogging. Yay! Exercising with friends is so much easier! Matt is trying to invite himself, too, so he can hang out with Jacob and Bethany. Well, maybe we'll let him tag along...just this once...

Swinging Simon
Matt Loses to Matt
Horseshoes.
Our Matt lost to Paige's Matt. I think my Matt is a funny sore loser, but he will hardly admit it. Well, once he did. He confessed that he doesn't like games that he doesn't win. ha ha.
I remember this one time we played SORRY with Scott and Melissa at Edisto. OH, it was so funny. I have a picture of Matt's face when he was losing. I am laughing just thinking of it! I should get Matt to bring home our scanner so others can share in the joy.

Simon Contemplates a Book Choice
Simon Is SOOOO Cute!
Simon Wellness Update: Doctor Visit (again!) on Thursday. Doctor pretty much ruled out asthma since the breathing treatments haven't helped. Bronchiolitis can last on average 6-8 weeks, so at 4 weeks, we're on the home stretch.
We just got back from my parents house where we ate grilled chicken, sweet potato fries, a yummy salad with cranberries, apples, pears, cashews, and swiss cheese, fresh bread, and the ubiquitous green beans.
We played SCENE IT. The teams were: Women (Connie, Tami, Mom, Emily, Me) VERSUS Men (Alan, Rusty, Dad) VERSUS Teens (Krista, Cathy, Grant, Matt?) THE WOMEN WON!
Food
Lunch today: Freshly husked corn, drop biscuits (sorry, grandmas, didn't have time to roll and cut...Simon was waking up), Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes, Fried Okra, Turnip Greens, Black-Eyed Peas, and, for my sake, tomatoes.
Everyone knows I don't normally cook (well, I don't cook this much), but we were celebrating!
!
Simon is Officially Crawling!
Simon Crawls! Crawling is a gray area. It's not so black and white. I am officially dubbing Wednesday, April 13th as the first day Simon crawled!
April 13th--a BIG DAY (wow, the lingo is catchy, CMC) for us. We were in an office at Gospel for Asia, as they were inviting us to join staff, and Simon crawls across the floor. Maybe I'll post tomorrow about the way the Lord has answered Matt's prayer with Gospel for Asia. But I am too tired to coherantly write down ideas and sentences and clauses and words and syllables and letters.

Puzzles R Fun
Tonight was the April Fellowship Banquet at Church.
I am so tired. I don't know why I don't go to bed. Every Wednesday night, without fail, Matt and I are so awake. I guess it didn't help to stop by Starbucks on the drive home...
Oh, so I had fun helping with the Banquet. I went up to the church last night and made way too much dessert. That's okay, we have some for BIGDAY on Saturday--(come on CMC, what is up with BIGDAY, is the title like a joke or something?)
The FUNNEST (I know that's not correct English) part for me, was watching so many struggle over the crossword puzzle I made last night. hee hee hee. I love making puzzles. I know Ashley will laugh when she reads this, because she already thinks that it is really weird that I love making flyers.
My favorite clue was: Couch potatoes' lair squared
Yeah, so some people suggested quite coldly that I must need to get a job or something. They told Matt to find me a job. Alan wanted to inflict harm. I like the way Alan and Connie are so competitive. I think it makes people FUNNER.
Since my grammar is starting to fail, I will end this post.
