The Many Faces of Simon's Birthday

Evie's Reclining Pose is too cute!

Matt gave me a hard time that I wrapped the Amazon box from his parents instead of opening it and wrapping the gift. I don't know why I didn't think of that ...

The much-asked for and anticipated sand table
His three friends just happened to walk up the sidewalk with balloons right as we were lighting some cupcakes ...

The night of his birthday, we ate and entertained at Chuck E. Cheese

Rachael spontaneously met us up there, and beat me at her initial go at ski-ball.
Shortly after this game we both digressed in our scores.

Rachael is great with birthdays (maybe she has some sort of reminder-program on her blackberry) and had remembered earlier in the day that it was Simon's birthday.

Simon's "official" party was delayed a couple of weeks, waiting for his friend Timmy to get back in town ... We had it for an hour one weekday morning, and the timing was just right (for this age group)! 5 minutes longer, and it may have been too long.

When I filled out the order form at Cost-co for the cake, Simon helped me. He dictated what he wanted the cake to say.

"Happy Birthday, Simon!
You are 4!"

We set up two card tables on the back porch.
For the 2nd year in a row, we used the twister-mat as the tablecloth.

Twister mat for a tablecloth?
Genius.
